America’s big decision after attacks on oil tankers in Hormuz, general license related to Iranian oil canceled

US Finance Department withdrew the order

The US Finance Department said in its official information that the general license issued on June 21, under which some activities related to the production, sale and supply of Iranian oil were allowed, has now been withdrawn. The administration says that this decision has been taken after the recent developments in Hormuz area.

US officials described the maritime attacks as unacceptable, saying there would be consequences for activities that threaten regional security. However, he also clarified that the ongoing talks between America and Iran will continue for now.

Signals to keep the conversation going

According to a US official, representatives of both countries are holding talks in good faith with the aim of reaching a final agreement. He says that despite the current tension, diplomatic efforts have not ended completely.




  • Saudi Arabia and Qatar expressed concern

    Saudi Arabia condemned the attacks on oil tankers in Hormuz and stressed the need to ensure the security of sea routes. At the same time, Qatar summoned Iran’s Deputy Ambassador and lodged a protest on the issue of alleged attack on its LNG tanker. Qatar’s Foreign Ministry has demanded an immediate stop to activities affecting regional security.

    Iran rejected the allegations

    Iran’s Foreign Ministry said in its statement that ships that do not follow prescribed maritime rules and coordination procedures or tamper with tracking systems may face security risks. Iran termed the allegations of attack on a ship belonging to Qatar as baseless and said that such allegations are not in line with the spirit of good neighborly relations.

    The Iranian Foreign Ministry also claimed that all provisions of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) related to the operation of the Strait of Hormuz are being followed. Also criticizing America’s decision to re-impose sanctions related to Iranian oil, calling it unfair.
