‘Om Namah Shivay’ echoed in 1000 year old Hindu temple, video of PM Modi in Tripund and saffron kurta went viral in Muslim country

New Delhi: During Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Indonesia, a scene emerged which caught the attention of people all over the world. Collective chanting of ‘Om Namah Shivay’ was seen resonating in the historical Prambanan Hindu temple of Indonesia. During this, Prime Minister Modi was also seen standing with folded hands among the devotees. He shared the video of this spiritual moment on social media, which is becoming increasingly viral.

Visited the temple with President Prabowo

Prime Minister Modi visited Prambanan Temple in Yogyakarta along with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto. Both the leaders offered prayers in the temple premises and saw closely the cultural heritage there. During this, PM Modi was seen wearing traditional saffron kurta and Tripund on his forehead.

‘Om Namah Shivay’ echoed in the temple

A large number of devotees were sitting together in the temple premises and chanting ‘Om Namah Shivay’. The whole atmosphere appeared devotional and peaceful. Prime Minister Modi also spent time with the devotees, becoming a part of this spiritual atmosphere. While sharing the video, he wrote that ‘Om Namah Shivay’ resonating in Prambanan temple is a wonderful experience.

India and Indonesia will jointly conserve

The importance of this visit is not only religious but also cultural and diplomatic. India and Indonesia have agreed to a joint initiative for the conservation and restoration of the Prambanan temple complex. A Letter of Intent was also exchanged between the two countries in this regard, which is expected to give new strength to cultural cooperation.

Why is Prambanan Temple special?

Prambanan Temple, located on the island of Java, is considered to be the largest Hindu temple complex in Indonesia. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu and Lord Brahma. This temple, which is about a thousand years old, is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There used to be about 240 temples in this huge complex, which are considered a historical symbol of the ancient cultural relations between India and South-East Asia.

Cultural relations will get new strength

This visit of Prime Minister Modi is being considered important in the direction of further strengthening the cultural and historical relations between the two countries under India’s ‘Act East’ policy. This effort of cooperation in temple conservation and preservation of shared heritage is being considered as a step to give a new height to the relations between the two countries.
