Team India collapsed on 76 runs against England, know what Gautam Gambhir said after the defeat

nottingham. After the Indian team was all out for just 76 runs in the third T20 match against England and suffered its fourth consecutive defeat, head coach Gautam Gambhir said that the team needs to understand the playing conditions better. Whereas captain Shreyas Iyer also described the performance as disappointing and admitted that losing early wickets in the powerplay became the biggest reason for the defeat.

‘The team does not get spoiled by just four matches’: Gautam Gambhir

In the press conference after the match, Gautam Gambhir said that no team can be called weak on the basis of only a few matches.

He said that sometimes the opposition team performs better and sometimes the team is not able to assess the situations correctly. According to him, after the Ireland series, the Indian team has not been able to read the playing conditions that well and there is a need for improvement in this area.

Have to play better against fast bowling

Gambhir admitted that the team needs to get better at handling fast bowling and extra bounce. However, he also called it part of the team’s aggressive ‘high-risk, high-reward’ strategy.

He said that in the last two T20 matches, India had scored 190 runs, but when the team plays aggressive cricket, sometimes such results also emerge.

Shreyas Iyer said – such performance is not acceptable

Indian captain Shreyas Iyer expressed disappointment over the defeat, saying that it was a very poor performance and defeat by such a huge margin is not acceptable.

He said that the team will first have to accept this defeat, then analyze its mistakes and make a new beginning. According to him, it was not a 200-run pitch, but the match was completely lost due to the fall of the first five wickets in the powerplay.

Need to give time to youth team

Gautam Gambhir said that there have been many major changes in the current Indian T20 team as compared to the last World Cup. New players have been given a chance in place of the captain, opening batsman and many experienced players.

He said that players like Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah are not in the team, while many young players are making their debut in international cricket. In such a situation, it is important to give time to the team to stabilize and perform better.

’15 year old player is opening’

Gambhir said that a 15-year-old young batsman is opening in the team, while some players are still new to international cricket and some are returning from injury.

He said that results are important, but patience is also important for the development of players. Young players will get experience against a strong team like England, which will prove beneficial for the team in future.

Middle order will have to shoulder a big responsibility

The Indian coach said that amidst aggressive batting, experienced middle order players will have to bat as per the situation.

He said that in T20 cricket, even small things like the size of the field, wind direction and match situation make a big difference. The team needs to understand these aspects better so that such mistakes are not repeated in future.
