Dehradun, 8th July. After the controversy of theft of offerings in Shri Ram temple in Ayodhya, now the Uttarakhand government has constituted a high-level committee to investigate the complaints of theft of offerings in Badrinath temple.
On the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the Uttarakhand government has constituted a three-member high-level committee to thoroughly investigate the matter. In this sequence, Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC) has registered an FIR against Pramod Nautiyal, personal assistant posted in the President’s office, with immediate effect and suspended him.

Meanwhile, on the Badrinath Dham offering theft case, CM Dhami said that the media will be updated about whatever action is being taken. Whoever is guilty will not be spared and strict action will be taken. A committee has been formed and the police has registered the report. Commissioner of Garhwal Division will be the chairman of the high level committee.
The government has constituted a committee under the chairmanship of Commissioner Garhwal Mandal. The chairman of the committee will be Commissioner Garhwal Mandal. Managing Director, NHM Sandeep Tiwari and Director (Finance) of the Office of the Director General Medical and Health Department, Jagat Singh Chauhan have been included as members in the committee. According to the order issued by Secretary Tourism Dhiraj Singh Garbyal, the committee will conduct a detailed investigation into the alleged irregularities related to donations and offerings received in the temple and will submit its investigation report and recommendations to the government within 15 days.
Suggestions sought to improve the system
It has been said in the letter that if necessary during the investigation, the committee can take the cooperation and advice of any officer, expert or other concerned person. The committee will also inform the government about necessary corrective measures and suggestions to make the donation management system more transparent, accountable and effective.
Allegations found true in preliminary investigation
Shri Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee has taken suspension action against Pramod Nautiyal, personal assistant posted in the President’s office. It was told that a show cause notice was issued to Nautiyal on July 3, 2026 after prima facie allegations of serious irregularities in the discharge of responsibilities came to light. Also, a four-member investigation committee was formed for a fair and detailed investigation of the case. In the preliminary report of the inquiry committee, the allegations were prima facie found to be true. The inquiry committee in its report had recommended disciplinary action against the concerned employee.
FIR was also lodged
The Committee also held that the possibility of the investigation being affected by retaining the employee in his current post cannot be ruled out. On this basis, Pramod Nautiyal has been suspended with immediate effect. An FIR has also been lodged. During the suspension period, they will be paid subsistence allowance as per rules. Also he has been attached to BKTC office, Joshimath (district Chamoli). During this period, they will not be allowed to leave the headquarters without prior permission of the competent authority.

It is noteworthy that after the complaint of theft of offerings in Badrinath temple came to light, Shri Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee investigated the footage of CCTV camera installed in the premises on July 2, 2026, in which Pramod Nautiyal had kept some things with himself apart from the normal counting at the counting place. On the basis of evidence and footage, the temple committee had sought a written explanation from the accused within 48 hours.
