Major action by police in Guwahati, more than 47 kg of ganja recovered; three smugglers arrested

Guwahati. On the basis of secret information, Hathigaon police station of Guwahati conducted a raid near Mini Taj Mahal located on Arunodaya Path and seized 47.38 kg of ganja and arrested three alleged smugglers.

Police first conducted a search operation in a rented room from where Asminur Mian (24), resident of Barpeta, and Rustam Ali (56), resident of Darrang, were arrested. The search, which was conducted after completing all legal formalities under the NDPS Act, led to the recovery of 45.8 kg of ganja and two mobile phones.

During interrogation, both the accused told that the seized ganja was provided to them by Akhtar Ali, who runs a shop near Beharbari Chariyali flyover in Guwahati.

After this, the police also searched Akhtar Ali’s shop on his behest, from where 1.58 kg of ganja was recovered and confiscated. After this Akhtar Ali was also arrested.

A total of 47.38 kg of ganja was recovered in this action. The police have taken the three accused into custody and have initiated necessary legal action against them under the NDPS Act.
