Congress party is taking tough decisions from Goa to Punjab, what message is it trying to give?

The Congress Party is trying to strengthen its organization again. Major changes are being made in many states and new people are being given place in the organization. Along with this, the party also seems to be strict regarding discipline. Earlier, large scale efforts were made in the party to persuade the leaders who went against the decision of the high command. Many times leaders used to get decisions taken in their favor by influencing the high command in Delhi but now it is not so. Now the Congress party is trying to wield the baton of the high command and is asking all the leaders to accept the decisions of the high command.

Punjab and Goa are the latest examples of this, where leaders who opposed the decisions of the high command were either not given much importance or action was taken against them. Recently, the party high command took major decisions regarding the organization in these two states, after which some leaders in the state are angry.

Uproar in Goa

These days, there is an uproar in Goa Congress regarding the appointment of a new president. Congress Party has recently appointed Girish Chodankar as the state president. He had taken this responsibility in place of Amit Patkar. Amit Patkar alleges that the high command took such a big decision without discussing with him.

His supporters are continuously protesting and KC Venugopal had reached Goa to reduce the opposition in the organization. After this he also had to face opposition and instead of reducing the controversy, it increased. Party’s Minority Department Chairman Wasim Khan created a ruckus in the presence of senior leader KC Venugopal by seriously accusing the party of ignoring minorities. As the dispute escalated, the atmosphere became tense and KC Venugopal himself was seen trying to pacify them.

Congress took action

When former media coordinator of Goa Congress Shamila Siddiqui raised questions on the decision of the high command, the party suspended her. Apart from this, the party also suspended Minority Department Chairman Wasim Khan, who created ruckus in KC Venugopal’s program. With this, the party has given a clear message to the state unit that all the leaders will have to remain disciplined.

The ploy to put pressure on the high command in Punjab failed

Punjab Congress is also a victim of factionalism. Former CM Charanjit Singh Channi is angry over Raja Wading being made the President of Punjab again. He demonstrated strength by holding a meeting with the leaders of his group and put pressure on the high command to change the decision. However, the party is not ready to listen to him at present. He wanted to meet Rahul Gandhi and the Congress high command but the party did not give him time. After this, he has now been asked to meet in-charge Bhupesh Baghel. Clear message regarding discipline

The Congress party has asked all in-charges to adopt a strict stance regarding discipline. In this series, Congress party in-charge in Himachal Pradesh, Rajni Patil has asked the MLAs and ministers that no one should say anything against the party and all should follow discipline. This is being seen as a big change and a new Congress in the Congress Party.
