Seven-member committee formed for UCC draft in Maharashtra!
Announcing this in the Assembly on Thursday, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that the names of the committee members have also been decided.
The Chief Minister said that this committee will study in detail all the legal, social and administrative aspects related to the Uniform Civil Code. Apart from this, it will prepare a report with its recommendations after considering the suggestions and essential aspects of various stakeholders.
Devendra Fadnavis said that the state government aims to introduce a bill related to the Uniform Civil Code in the upcoming Nagpur winter assembly session.
The purpose of the Uniform Civil Code is to provide uniform treatment to all citizens in laws relating to marriage, divorce, inheritance, adoption and family matters. This initiative of Maharashtra Government is being considered an important step towards implementing UCC in the state. Now everyone will be keeping an eye on the report of the committee and the further action of the government in the upcoming winter session.
