Melbourne. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was warmly welcomed by the Indian community at Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, Australia. Thousands of NRIs welcomed him amid applause and cheers. The Prime Minister reached the venue along with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. During this, on the request of PM Modi, people lit the entire stadium by lighting their mobile flashlights. Overwhelmed by this sight, the Prime Minister said, “This show is housefull and blockbuster.”
Starting his address, Prime Minister Modi bowed to the traditional owners of that land and their ancestors. He said that Melbourne makes one experience four seasons in a single day, but the Indian community has made the city even more vibrant with the color of its culture and traditions. He said that there are many areas in and around Melbourne which people know as ‘Little India’ or ‘Mini India’ and these have become the identity of Indian culture.
Recalling his first visit to Australia in 2014, the Prime Minister said that at that time, an Indian Prime Minister had come to Australia after about 28 years. He then promised that next time people would not have to wait so long for the visit of an Indian Prime Minister. PM Modi said that this is his third visit to Australia in the last 12 years, which is a symbol of the strengthening relations between the two countries. He said that relations between India and Australia are continuously reaching new heights and the strategic, economic and cultural partnership between the two countries is stronger than ever.
Victoria state Premier Jacinta Allen also welcomed Prime Minister Modi at the program. He said that Victoria respects the Indian community and its values. According to him, India is not just a trading partner for Victoria but a partner of trust. He also invited the people of India to visit Victoria.
Earlier, a large number of people from the Indian community reached the venue Marvel Stadium to get a glimpse of their Prime Minister. The program started with the national anthem of India. Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese was also present on this occasion. The entire event reflected the strengthening India-Australia relations, cultural connect and growing partnership between the people of the two countries.
