Bombing continues between Iran and America, Iran’s ultimatum on Hormuz; Understand in 8 points what happened in 24 hours? Video
After some peace, West Asia is once again seen standing on a pile of gunpowder. The ceasefire between America and Iran has now become almost ineffective. On Thursday, both the countries launched new military attacks on each other, due to which the tension in the entire Gulf region increased manifold. The situation has become such that now the world is facing the fear of a major regional war.
This new era started when America launched large-scale attacks on many military bases of Iran. Washington says that this action has been taken in response to the attacks on merchant ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz. America claims that its objective was to ensure the security of international sea routes and to weaken Iran’s military capability.
But Iran also did not keep silence. A few hours later, it targeted the military bases of America and its allied countries through missiles and drones. Tehran clearly said that if America intervenes further, its response will be tougher than before.
1. American attack on more than 90 targets
According to the US Central Command (CENTCOM), about 90 military bases of Iran were targeted in this campaign. These included air defense systems, missile launchers, drone storage, coastal surveillance centers and many important bases related to military logistics. America claims that the purpose of these attacks was to weaken Iran’s ability to pose a threat to international shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.
2. Explosions also occurred near the nuclear plant
Iran alleged that several military bases in Bushehr province were affected by the US strikes. The country’s only operating nuclear power plant is also located in this area, which was built with the help of Russia. Although Iranian officials said that the reactor was not damaged, the area around it came under attack. Apart from this, the fishing port of Bushehr and many other military complexes were also targeted.
3. Attack on Bandar Abbas and railway network also
There were also reports of powerful explosions in Iran’s major port city Bandar Abbas. According to local media, nearby military bases were also targeted. Apart from this, an important railway bridge used for trade with Russia and China was also damaged. Some other bridges on the route to Mashhad were also attacked, due to which the transport system was affected.
4. Iran’s response, missiles fired in many countries
In response to the American attacks, Iran started missile and drone attacks on American military bases and allied countries in the Gulf region. American Patriot air defense system was targeted in Kuwait. The Kuwaiti army claimed that it shot down three ballistic missiles, one cruise missile and ten drones en route. However, one person got injured after being hit by falling debris.
5. Attack on American military base in Qatar
The Iranian military said that it targeted the American Early Warning Facility and satellite antenna located in Qatar. Al Udeid Air Base is present in this country, which is considered to be America’s largest military base in the Middle East. Expressing concern over the increasing tension in the region after the incident, Qatar appealed to all parties to exercise restraint and find a diplomatic solution.
6. Bahrain and Jordan also became targets
Iran claimed that it targeted a fuel storage facility attached to the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain. However, Bahrain said its air defense system intercepted most of the missiles.
On the other hand, Iran also claimed to fire ballistic missiles at Azraq Air Base used by the US Army in Jordan. Jordan said its air defense system intercepted most of the missiles and no major damage was reported.
7. Tension increases amid Khamenei’s funeral
This entire incident happened at a time when the funeral rituals of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei were going on in Iran. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump also indicated that the interim ceasefire implemented between the two countries is no longer effective, although he also said that the avenues of diplomatic dialogue have not been completely closed yet.
8. Concern increased again on the Strait of Hormuz
The Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important maritime trade routes, has once again become a center of tension. Iran’s Revolutionary Guard has warned that if America continues further military action, its response will be even harsher. Although Iran says that the movement of ships is gradually becoming normal, but it has made it clear that this sea route will be operated only on its terms.
The rapidly changing situation in West Asia is no longer limited only to America and Iran. Many Gulf countries have been directly or indirectly affected by this conflict. In such a situation, the eyes of the whole world are now focused on whether diplomacy will be able to stop this crisis or whether it will take the form of conflict and a big war.
