Bankipur by-election: BJP candidate Abhishek Bunty withdraws nomination, Prashant Kishore also in the fray
Knews Desk- Political turmoil has intensified regarding the Bankipur Assembly by-election. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Abhishek Kumar Bunty has decided to withdraw from the election contest. He has withdrawn his nomination. Abhishek Bunty has cited family reasons behind withdrawing his nomination.
Abhishek Kumar Bunty informed about his decision by submitting a letter in this regard to BJP State President Sanjay Saraogi. He said that due to personal and family circumstances he would not be able to contest the elections. After withdrawal of his nomination, BJP is now faced with the challenge of fielding a new candidate for Bankipur seat. BJP has now started searching for a new candidate for this seat. The party may announce a new name soon. Bankipur assembly seat is already considered politically important, in such a situation the decision to change the candidate can affect the electoral equations.
In this by-election, Jansuraj Party founder Prashant Kishore is also contesting for the first time. Prashant Kishore is contesting as his party’s candidate from Bankipur seat. The competition has become more interesting with his entry into the field. Prashant Kishore has been playing an active role in the politics of Bihar for a long time. Through Janasuraj campaign he has claimed political change in the state. Now Bankipur by-election is being considered a big political test for him also.
After withdrawal of nomination of Abhishek Bunty, a change in BJP’s strategy on Bankipur seat is considered certain. The party will now have to choose a candidate who can meet the local equations and opposition challenge. Bankipur assembly constituency is one of the major seats of Patna city and the elections here are always in discussion. Due to the presence of BJP, Jansuraj and other parties, the contest on this seat is likely to be very interesting. Now all eyes are on the announcement of BJP’s new candidate and election strategy.
