The women’s Test match is being played between India and England at Lord’s from today (July 10). This is the first time that this prestigious ground is hosting a women’s Test. In the last 142 years, 150 men’s test matches have been played at Lord’s, which is called the Mecca of cricket. Women’s Test has been played for 96 years but only now has it been entered at Lord’s. In this historic match, England captain Nate Seaver-Brunt has won the toss and decided to bowl first.
Sri Charani is making her Test debut for India. Left arm spinner Charani was the highest wicket-taker in the recent Women’s T20 World Cup. He took 14 wickets in 5 matches. England have handed debut caps to Maddy Villiers and Alice Capsey. Capsy has played 94 matches for England in white ball cricket.

Amazing atmosphere created at Lord’s
Before the start of the match at the Home of Cricket i.e. Lord’s, a program took place in the pavilion in which the portrait of women was unveiled in the ‘Long Room’. One of these pictures was Enid Bakewell. She scored a fifty in the first women’s ODI match played at Lord’s in 1976. She still plays cricket as an amateur at the age of 85.
After the program in the pavilion, 50 former England women players marched with the team to the pitch and then the bell was rung. About 30 thousand tickets for this match have been sold, which shows how important an occasion this is.
