Investment of Rs 150 crore, electric boat factory will be built in Sindhudurg, Maharashtra!
State Fisheries and Port Development Minister and Sindhudurg Guardian Minister Nitesh Rane was present during the signing of the MoU. In the meeting, early implementation of both the projects and their various aspects were discussed in detail. Officials said that these projects are aimed at making sea transport in Maharashtra modern, environment-friendly and technology-based.
Under the agreement, modern and eco-friendly electric boats will be provided for the Mumbai Water Metro project. Apart from this, a state-of-the-art electric boat manufacturing unit will be established at a cost of Rs 150 crore on about 22 acres of land in Talwane village located in Sawantwadi taluka of Sindhudurg district.
Electric boats equipped with new technology will be manufactured in this factory, which is expected to promote green maritime transport in the state.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that the state government is encouraging big investment in the maritime sector of Maharashtra. He says initiatives like the Mumbai Water Metro project and the electric boat manufacturing unit in Sindhudurg will give a new impetus to the state’s maritime economy. This will promote modern technology and make sea transportation more safe and environment friendly.
Nitish Rane expressed confidence that this project will create new employment opportunities for the local youth in Sindhudurg and surrounding areas. Besides, the modern shipbuilding industry in the state will also be strengthened. He said that the government will provide all necessary support to complete this project on time.
Many officials including Additional Chief Secretary of Transport and Ports Department Sanjay Sethi, senior officials of Maharashtra Maritime Board, M. Zoya Marine Services Private Limited Director John Fernandes, Director Suraj Devadia and Dr. Nilesh Banavalikar were present in the meeting.
