Auto lifter and mobile thief arrested, five stolen mobile phones and one stolen motorcycle recovered
New Delhi. Anti Auto Theft Squad AATS of South District Police has achieved great success by arresting a vicious criminal involved in the incidents of auto theft and mobile theft. One stolen Honda motorcycle and five stolen mobile phones have been recovered from the possession of the accused. Six cases of theft have come to light with his arrest. According to the police, the accused has already been involved in 10 criminal cases including theft, Arms Act and Gangsters Act.
According to the police, on July 8, 2026, AATS had received secret information that a habitual auto lifter was about to arrive in South District on a stolen motorcycle. Based on the information, under the leadership of Inspector Amit Dutt Sharma, in-charge AATS and supervision of ACP Operations Rituraj, the team of Head Constable Ishwar, Head Constable Narendra, Constable Ram Dayal and Constable Ashok laid a trap and stopped a suspicious youth along with a Honda motorcycle.
Upon checking the vehicle, the motorcycle was found to be stolen. After this, when the accused was searched, five stolen mobile phones were also recovered from him. During interrogation, the accused was identified as 25 year old Qasim Khan s/o Alimuddin, resident of Loni, Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh). During interrogation, he admitted his involvement in several incidents of vehicle theft and mobile theft. The police are now busy identifying his associates and the people who bought the stolen goods. Investigation revealed that the accused used to commit theft by targeting motorcycles parked unattended in public places.
After this, using the same stolen motorcycles, he used to commit incidents of mobile theft in crowded markets and public places. He used to make quick money by selling stolen mobile phones to local receivers. To avoid the attention of the police, he kept changing his area constantly and used to drive with original number plates on the stolen motorcycles. According to the police records, 10 criminal cases including theft, possession of stolen goods, Arms Act and Gangsters Act are already registered against the accused in various police stations of Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
In this action, the police have recovered one stolen Honda motorcycle and five stolen mobile phones. After the arrest of the accused, e-FIR number 00789/2026 was registered in police station R.K. Puram, e-FIR number 80067566/2025 police station Mehrauli, e-FIR number 80107957/2025 police station Malviya Nagar, e-FIR number 80110874/2025 police station Tigri, e-FIR number 80110719/2025 police station Fatehpur Beri and A total of six cases have been disclosed including e-FIR number 80025247/2026 police station Maidangarhi.
South District Police Deputy Commissioner Anant Mittal (IPS) said that due to alertness, intelligence information and prompt action of AATS, a vicious auto lifter and mobile thief has been arrested. Police are carrying out further investigation to unearth the entire network, arrest other associates of the accused and recover additional stolen goods.
