Lucknow fire: What will happen to the building where 15 people burnt to death?
The court of Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) of Uttar Pradesh has ordered the demolition of a three-storey house in Aliganj. This is the same building where 15 people died and 9 were injured in a massive fire on June 22.
Lucknow Development Authority has said that this building was approved only for residential purpose, but it was being put into commercial use. The investigation conducted after the fire revealed that illegal construction was also done without permission.

The building itself will be demolished in 15 days
Following the court order, LDA officials reached the spot on Friday and pasted the notice. House owners have been given time to remove illegal constructions within 15 days. If they do not remove it themselves, then LDA itself will use the bulldozer and will recover the expenses from the owners.
On the basis of which law was the decision taken?
This action has been taken under Section 27(1) of the Uttar Pradesh Urban Planning and Development Act 1973. House number is MS-102, Sector-D, Zone-4, Aliganj. It is built on a plot of 1992 square feet.

What has LDA said?
LDA officials say that this decision was necessary to stop illegal construction and commercial use of residential houses in the city. On June 23, notice was given to the landlords in this matter. The case was heard in the LDA court on July 7. On Friday, the court declared the building illegal and ordered its demolition. Landlords can appeal within 15 days.

What happened on 22nd June?
This three-storey building had a pet shop on the ground floor. There was a veterinary clinic here and an animation, gaming and software training center was running on the upper floors.
Most of the students between 20 and 24 years of age died. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had constituted a 2-member SIT and sought a report within seven days. The building approval, fire safety and commercial use rules have been found to be in order.
