Onion farmers of Maharashtra appealed to the government, troubled by falling prices, farmers said – like the city, listen to us too!

Nashik. A major onion producer organization of Maharashtra has given a big statement questioning the priorities of the state government. The organization has demanded that the government should show the same promptness and promptness in resolving the distress of rain-affected farmers as it shows in removing traffic obstructions like landslides on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway.

‘Why immediate attention on urban inconvenience, ignoring the suffering of farmers?’

Bharat Dighole, president of Maharashtra State Onion Producers Organization, issued an official statement saying that the administration immediately takes action on the inconvenience caused to urban commuters or on the highways during heavy rains. In contrast, there is rarely such administrative concern or dynamism over the losses faced by farmers facing economic devastation due to recurring natural disasters and falling crop prices. Calling the traffic blockage caused by landslides on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway a ‘temporary problem’, Dighole said such incidents are natural for major infrastructure projects or during heavy rains.

Investment in infrastructure welcome, but balance necessary

The president of the organization clarified that he is not anti-development. He said, “Investments made in infrastructure like expressways, roads, bridges and tunnels ultimately benefit the entire public, including farmers, by reducing the time and cost of transportation. But the wheel of development will not be complete unless the rural economy is also given equal importance.”

Non-political stance and demand for equal justice

Bharat Dighole made it clear that his organization is completely non-political and is not associated with any party. The sole objective of the organization is to work for the welfare of farmers. Giving advice to the government, he said that for the overall development of Maharashtra, it is necessary for both cities and villages to be equally important. Along with solving the problems of urban residents, the administration should also listen to the pain and financial loss of Annadata farmers with equal honesty and promptness.
