Rohit Chandel: ‘Pandya Store’ fame Rohit Chandel arrested, serious allegations of molesting and assaulting a 16 year old minor girl

‘Pandya Store’ fame actor Rohit Chandel has been arrested by Mumbai Police. According to media reports, the actor has been accused of serious allegations like stalking, molestation and assault of a 16-year-old minor girl. Due to which Mumbai Police has registered a case under POCSO Act and arrested him.

What are the allegations?
According to the police, a 16-year-old girl from the eastern suburbs had filed a complaint against actor Rohit Chandel. According to the complaint, Rohit Chandel was allegedly harassing the minor girl by continuously calling her from his mobile number. When the girl stopped picking up his calls, he started calling repeatedly from another number.

It is alleged that on July 5, the actor tried to block the girl’s path near her house and later chased her. When she protested, they allegedly argued, abused and assaulted the girl.

Case registered against the actor under POCSO Act
Police have registered a case against actor Rohit under the POCSO Act. Along with this, sections 78 (stalking) and 115 (2) (assault with intent to cause hurt) of the Indian Justice Code (BNS) have also been imposed. According to the information, Rohit Chandel has been arrested by the police from his house in Dahisar, Mumbai. After this he was presented in the special POCSO court. Currently the actor is in judicial custody.

The police officer said that on the basis of the complaint, a case has been registered against the accused and further investigation is going on.

Who is Rohit Chandel?
Rohit Chandel is a well-known face of the TV industry. He has played the role of Dhaval Makwana in Star Plus’ popular show ‘Pandya Store’ and Bajirao in Zee TV’s historical show ‘Kashibai Bajirao Ballal’. Rohit, a resident of Shahada in Nandurbar district of Maharashtra, has played cricket before coming into acting. He played cricket for the Maharashtra Cricket Association and also represented his district in martial arts.

In 2015, he came to Mumbai to pursue a career in acting. During the initial struggle, he got his first advertisement after failing in around 90 auditions. After this he made his TV debut with ‘Har Mushkil Ka Hal Akbar Birbal’. He has also appeared in many serials like ‘Chandragupt Maurya’, ‘Tamanna’, ‘Yeh Un Dinon Ki Baat Hai’.
