National mourning declared on July 13 in India on the death of Father Amir of Qatar

New Delhi. The Government of India has declared a day of national mourning on Monday, July 13, as a mark of respect on the demise of Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, the ‘Father Emir’ of Qatar.

Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs Kiren Rijiju will soon visit Qatar to express condolences to Qatar on behalf of the Government of India.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed condolences on the demise of the ‘Father Emir’ of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani. He said he was a visionary leader who took Qatar to higher levels of development and prosperity and was a true friend of India.

On the day of mourning, the national flag will be flown at half mast on all buildings across the country where the national flag is regularly flown and there will be no official entertainment program on the day.
