Naxalite Misir Besra with a reward of Rs 2.20 crore arrested from Dhanbad, big success of Jharkhand Police

Dhanbad. Jharkhand Police has got great success in the anti-Naxal campaign. Misir Besra, a Politburo member of the banned CPI (Maoist) and one of the most wanted Naxalite leaders of the country, has been arrested from Dhanbad. A total reward of Rs 2.20 crore was declared on his head by the Government of Jharkhand and Odisha. According to the police, he was wanted in 175 cases and had played an important role in setting up the Maoist network in Jharkhand. The police have also arrested two other rewarded Naxalites along with him.

Country’s most wanted Naxalite arrested from Dhanbad

Jharkhand Director General of Police (DGP) Tadasha Mishra said on Wednesday that Misir Besra, a politburo member of the banned CPI (Maoist), was arrested during Operation Daura Pahad in Maniadih area of ​​Barwada police station area of ​​Dhanbad district on Tuesday evening. Misir Besra, 65, is a resident of Madnadih village in Giridih district and was an active top Politburo member of the currently banned organisation.

Reward of Rs 2.20 crore, was wanted in 175 cases

According to the police, a total reward of Rs 2.20 crore was announced on the head of Misir Besra by the governments of Jharkhand and Odisha. He was wanted in 175 criminal cases registered in Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal. During the operation, the police also arrested Naxal alias Mochu, who had a reward of Rs 15 lakh, and another Naxalite named Gaurav. According to the police, the three arrested Naxalites were wanted in a total of 320 criminal cases.

Besra was associated with Maoist organization in 1980

Police said Misir Besra, also known as Sagar Da and Bhaskar Da, had joined the banned Maoist organization in the year 1980. After being continuously active in the organization, he became a member of the Central Committee in the year 2003 and later reached the Politburo. According to police officials, Misir Besra played an important role in expanding the Maoist organization in Jharkhand and surrounding states. He also played an important role in the formation of several armed squads in the state.

Involved in many major incidents including Jehanabad jailbreak

Jharkhand Police IG (Operations) Narendra Singh said that the three arrested Naxalites were involved in many major attacks. These include the 2005 Jehanabad jailbreak in Bihar, several bank robberies, major loot of arms and ammunition and several IED blasts. According to the police, their activities resulted in the death of more than 100 security personnel.

There was an attempt to increase activities again in Parasnath area.

Police say that the three arrested Naxalites were trying to reactivate Maoist activities in Parasnath area. IG Narendra Singh said that the security forces will conduct a search operation in the entire area and the search for the remaining 15 to 20 Maoists active in Jharkhand will be intensified. These also include three rewarded Naxalites.

Had not come home for many years: Brother

On the arrest of Misir Besra, his brother Devlal Besra said that the family got information about his arrest on the border of Dhanbad and Giridih between 10 and 11 pm on Tuesday night. He said that Misir Besra never came home after 1986-87. On behalf of the family, he was appealed several times to return to the mainstream. Devlal Besra told that he has a nephew in the family, while a niece has already died.

Second major success after surrender of 16 Maoists

Misir Besra’s arrest came at a time when 16 Maoists had surrendered before the Jharkhand Police just a few hours earlier. These include Santosh Mahato alias Basudev Da alias Dilip, who was wanted in 128 cases and had a reward of Rs 15 lakh declared on his head. A total reward of Rs 39 lakh was declared on the six Naxalites who surrendered.

Naxalism is almost over from Jharkhand: DGP

DGP Tadasha Mishra said that after the arrest of the most wanted Naxalite leaders of the country, the influence of Naxalism has almost ended in Jharkhand. He said that the operation of police and security forces will continue and intensive action will be taken against the remaining Naxalites.
