Weather Update: Alert of heavy rain in these states and danger of landslides in Uttarakhand, see latest update of IMD

Tomorrow’s season 13th July: South-west monsoon remains active across the country. According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), there is a possibility of light to moderate rain in many parts of North India, Northeast and Central India and heavy to very heavy rain in some areas on July 13. At the same time, there is a danger of landslides in the hilly areas of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh and waterlogging in the low-lying areas.

Alert of heavy rain in these states

According to the Meteorological Department, rains with thunderstorms may continue in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and East Rajasthan on Monday. There is a possibility of strong winds and rain in some areas of Jammu and Kashmir. People have been appealed to avoid unnecessary travel and follow the advice of the Meteorological Department.

Monsoon will be active in eastern and central India also

Rain is expected at many places in Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Sikkim, Odisha and all the northeastern states. There may be isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall in Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh. At the same time, there is a possibility of rain with thunder in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Vidarbha. In view of the possibility of lightning and strong winds, farmers and people working in open spaces have been advised to remain alert.

Weather of Maharashtra and Gujarat

Rainfall will continue in western and southern India also. Light to moderate rainfall may occur in many areas of Maharashtra, Goa, Gujarat, Saurashtra and Kutch, while heavy rainfall is likely at some places. Scattered to widespread rain is also expected in Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Puducherry and Lakshadweep. Humid weather may persist in parts of coastal Andhra Pradesh.

Heavy rain in West Bengal till July 14

The Meteorological Department said that heavy rains may continue in many districts of West Bengal till July 14. There is a possibility of landslides in the hilly areas of Darjeeling and Kalimpong and waterlogging in the low-lying areas of Cooch Behar, Alipurduar and Jalpaiguri. Heavy rain alert has also been issued in Murshidabad, East Bardhaman, Bankura, Birbhum, Nadia and West Bardhaman. There may also be heavy rain in Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly and North-South 24 Parganas.

Difficulties increased in Uttarakhand

Following heavy rains in the last 24 hours in Uttarakhand, 126 roads have been closed due to landslides, including two national highways. A woman was injured when a wall of an under-construction building collapsed due to heavy rains in Dehradun, while a temporary bridge in Premnagar area was also damaged. The work of opening the road due to landslide near Syanachatti on Yamunotri Highway is going on continuously.

Monsoon weakened in Rajasthan

Monsoon activities are likely to remain weak in Rajasthan for the next one week. According to the Meteorological Department, the weather will remain dry in most parts of the state. Only a few places recorded light rain in the last 24 hours, while Sriganganagar was the hottest city in the state, recording a maximum temperature of 41.7 degrees Celsius. However, under the influence of a weak weather system, light rain may occur over some areas of Bikaner, Sriganganagar, Hanumangarh and Churu on July 14 and 15.
