NoE Delhi, 30 July. After Rajya Sabha, Vande Mataram Bill was also passed in Lok Sabha on Thursday. It was passed by voice vote amid huge uproar from the opposition. Along with this, the proceedings of the House have been adjourned for the day. The House proceedings will now resume from 11 am on Friday.

Objective of Vande Mataram Bill

The purpose of the Vande Mataram Bill is to give legal protection to 'Vande Mataram' like the national anthem 'Jana Gana Mana'. If someone insults 'Vande Mataram', he can be punished with imprisonment up to three years, fine or both.

After passing the bill, SP MP Ziaur Rahman said that there is a large Muslim population in the country, hence their feelings and concerns cannot be ignored. Through this bill the government wants to create distance between Hindus and Muslims. I want to ask the Hindu community that this will neither provide employment to their children, nor end corruption, nor reduce inflation, nor solve problems like NEET. This is just an attempt to divert attention from the real issues.

Opposition MPs in Rajya Sabha demand accountability from Amit Shah
