Central government not satisfied with the cleanliness of Meta, summons top officials in PM Modi's video case
New Delhi. The Modi government at the Center has summoned senior officials of American technology company Meta. This action has been taken after a video message of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was briefly banned on Facebook last week. The government has sought a strong response from the company on this incident.

Understand what the whole matter is
Let us tell you that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had uploaded his first public address on the nationwide student protests over NEET paper leak on July 23 on Instagram and later shared it on Facebook as well. This video was removed from Facebook for some time, which was later restored. This video has been viewed more than 40 crore times on Instagram.
Government took strict steps
After this matter came to light, Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) S. Krishnan said on Thursday that the government has asked Meta to come to the highest level and explain why this happened.

informed about unintentional mistake
However, Meta termed the incident as an unintentional mistake and said that PM Modi's video was removed by mistake, which was later rectified. On the other hand, according to the Meitei Secretary, Meta has also informed the government that it has introduced new protocols for the accounts of prominent public figures to prevent such incidents in future.
Increasing strictness between government and tech companies
It is noteworthy that this entire incident is a new part of the ongoing strict monitoring between the Government of India and big social media companies regarding content moderation and platform governance. Even before this, the government has taken a tough stance on the way global social media firms handle government communications and content of big leaders.
