Arvind Kejriwal On E20 Fuel: The debate regarding E20 petrol in the country has once again intensified and this time Aam Aadmi Party's national convenor Arvind Kejriwal has made serious allegations against the central government and the major automobile companies of the country. Regarding this, he claims that vehicle manufacturing companies are avoiding giving written answers on the question of whether E20 petrol is safe in vehicles manufactured before 2023. But the government and the Bharatiya Janata Party have rejected these allegations and have described ethanol blended fuel as safe and better for the environment.

Letter sent to 29 auto companies

While talking to the media, Arvind Kejriwal said that he had written a letter to 29 major car and two-wheeler manufacturing companies of the country asking whether the use of E20 petrol in old vehicles affects the engine, mileage or other parts. He also questioned whether companies are prepared to compensate customers if losses occur. Along with this, Kejriwal claims that no company has given a written answer to this question. According to him, in the owner manuals of many companies, it has been said to be cautious regarding the use of more than 10 percent ethanol blended fuel in some models before 2023.

Officials of 9 companies admitted privately

In his claims, Kejriwal made another big claim and said that senior officials of 9 vehicle manufacturing companies admitted to him in personal and phone conversations that long-term use of E20 petrol in some vehicles manufactured before 2023 may affect the engine, fuel line and mileage. But no public document or official statement has surfaced in support of these claims. At the same time, no public response has been issued by the concerned auto companies in this regard.

Serious allegations were also made against the government

Not only this, Arvind Kejriwal alleged that auto companies are not saying anything openly due to government pressure. He says that the companies are afraid of action and possible financial loss, hence they are avoiding giving any written guarantee publicly. On the other hand, the Central Government says that E20 ethanol mixed petrol will reduce the dependence on import of crude oil, farmers will benefit and will also help in reducing pollution. The government is continuously promoting it as a clean and sustainable fuel.

Questions in the minds of 30 crore vehicle owners

In the current discussion, Kejriwal says that about 30 crore vehicles manufactured before 2023 are running on the roads in the country. In such a situation, the questions raised regarding E20 have increased the concern of crores of vehicle owners. But for now, different claims and counter-claims are emerging in this entire controversy. In such a situation, it would be best for vehicle owners to use fuel as per the owner manual of their vehicle and the official advice of the vehicle manufacturer.
