Ankit Sharma murder case: 5 accused including former AAP councilor Tahir Hussain found guilty, 6 accused acquitted

In Delhi’s famous Ankit Sharma murder case, Karkardooma Court has given a big verdict and convicted five accused including former Aam Aadmi Party councilor Tahir Hussain. Apart from Tahir Hussain, the court has also found Qasim, Anas, Nazim and Javed guilty in the case. At the same time, the court has acquitted 6 other accused due to lack of evidence. The hearing on the punishment of the culprits will be held on the next scheduled date.

The matter is related to 2020 Delhi riots

The case pertains to the murder of IB (Intelligence Bureau) employee Ankit Sharma during the communal riots in North-East Delhi in February 2020. Ankit Sharma’s body was recovered from a drain during the riots. The investigating agencies had alleged that he was murdered by a violent mob and the role of many people including Tahir Hussain had come to light in this case.

The court has convicted the following accused:

  • Tahir Hussain
  • Qasim
  • Anas
  • Nazim
  • Javed

Apart from this, 6 other accused have been acquitted by the court.

Next hearing on sentencing

At present the court has given its verdict only on conviction. The hearing on the sentence of the convicted accused will be held on the next date, where the prosecution and defense will present their respective arguments.
