Tension increases in Hormuz: One Indian killed, eight crew members injured in Iran’s missile attack on UAE oil tankers

Abu Dhabi. The Defense Ministry of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has said that two national tankers ‘Mombasa’ and ‘Al Bahia’ were attacked by two Iranian cruise missiles while passing through the southern navigation route of the Strait of Hormuz in the territorial waters of Oman. Due to this attack, an Indian crew member aboard the Mombasa tanker died. Apart from this, eight other people were injured, out of which four are seriously injured. The injured included six Indian nationals and two Ukrainian nationals.




  • Tankers suffered heavy losses

    Due to this missile attack, both the tankers caught fire, causing considerable damage to them. However, the fire in the tankers has now been brought under control. The Defense Ministry has strongly condemned this attack. The ministry has called it a serious violation of international law, which is a major threat to the security and stability of the region.

    What did UAE say about the attack?

    The ministry said that the United Arab Emirates (UAE) reserves the full right to respond to this tension. It will take all necessary steps to safeguard its territory, citizens and residents in order to safeguard its sovereignty, security, stability and national interests. The ministry clarified that it is fully prepared and alert to deal with any threat. Any attempt to harm the security of the country will be given a strong response.

    The Defense Ministry has appealed to the general public to get information only from official sources. The ministry has urged people to avoid spreading rumors and unverified information on social media or other mediums.

    UAE Foreign Ministry condemned the attack

    The Foreign Ministry of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has strongly condemned the Iranian missile attacks on its national oil tankers ‘Mombasa’ and ‘Al Bahia’ in the Strait of Hormuz located in the maritime zone of Oman. The Ministry expressed deep condolences to the Government of India and the people of India on the death of an Indian citizen in these attacks. The UAE underlined that the attack is a gross violation of UN Security Council Resolution 2817. Along with this he called for an immediate end to all types of hostile activities and the complete reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
