The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) and Maharashtra Police have arrested two alleged shooters in connection with the attempted murder of businessman Mohan Parmar in Vasai-Virar, Thane district, Maharashtra, in a joint operation. The arrested suspects have been identified as Sujit Pandey and Manoj Thathera. Sujit was apprehended in Ballia, and Manoj in Azamgarh.
According to reports, Mohan Parmar was shot by unknown assailants while leaving his office on July 24th. Parmar, who was seriously injured, is still undergoing treatment in the hospital. Following the incident, both accused fled to Uttar Pradesh. Maharashtra Police then sought the assistance of the Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF), following which they were arrested in a joint operation. This action is considered another major achievement in the recent string of successful operations by Uttar Pradesh’s security agencies.
The mastermind of the fake document making gang was also arrested.
Earlier on July 29, the Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) arrested the mastermind of an interstate gang involved in the production of fake Indian documents, carrying a reward of ₹25,000, from Raghunathganj in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district. Investigation revealed that the gang produced Aadhaar cards and other important Indian documents for Rohingya, Bangladeshi, Nepali, and other foreign nationals.
A Nigerian national was also arrested from Delhi.
On July 19, the UP Special Task Force (STF) arrested Nigerian national Obase Prosper (27) from Delhi for operating a racket that duped Indian men and women online through fake social media profiles.
During interrogation, the accused revealed that he had come to India on a medical visa in 2023 but had been residing in India illegally despite the visa’s expiry. The STF recovered 5.085 kilograms of methamphetamine, five mobile phones, and two passports from his possession. According to officials, the seized drugs were estimated to be worth more than ₹10 crore in the international market.
