Agreement between IPC and UPPPC for quality improvement in health sector
- MoU signed to create medical device hub
New Delhi. Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) and Uttar Pradesh Promote Pharma Council (UPPPC) have signed an MoU to promote quality, innovation and regulatory excellence in the health sector. This strategic partnership aims to strengthen quality standards, promote regulatory compliance and encourage innovation and capacity building in the pharmaceutical and medical device sector.
Under the agreement, both the organizations will together strengthen quality standards and regulatory compliance in the pharmaceutical and medical device industry. Also, awareness about Indian Pharmacopoeia, pharmacovigilance (monitoring of side effects of drugs) and materiovigilance (safety monitoring of medical devices) will be increased.
Additionally, joint training programmes, workshops and awareness campaigns for stakeholders will be organised. Research and innovation will be encouraged by increasing collaboration between industry and educational institutions. Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises will be provided with modern tools for digital reporting of adverse events and patient safety will be further strengthened through quality assurance and monitoring of products available in the market.
Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission on Wednesday said that this partnership is an important step towards promoting high-quality health services, supporting innovation and strengthening India’s regulatory framework. Its objective is to help in making Uttar Pradesh a leading center of pharmaceutical, medical device and healthcare technology.
