Can RPF Check Ticket Or Impose Fine: Does RPF have the right to check ticket and impose fine?, Railways told the truth of the viral post.
Varanasi. Does the Railway Protection Force (RPF) have the right to check tickets and collect fines from passengers who do not follow the rules? A post has gone viral on social media that Railways has also given the right to RPF to check tickets and collect fines. Now the Assistant Commercial Manager of Varanasi Division of Railways has stated the truth and said that the Railway Board has not given the right to check tickets or collect fines to RPF. Railways has also told in which cases RPF can collect fine.

A social media post regarding giving RPF the power to check tickets and impose fines came recently after the dispute between RPF and Deputy Station Superintendent in Agra and went viral. It was claimed in this post that under the Public Trust Act of the Central Government, RPF has been given the right to check tickets and impose fine if there is no ticket. At the same time, the ticket checking organization alleged that RPF soldiers and officers are checking tickets by citing this Act. Seeing the controversy arising from this, now the railway officer has stated the truth.

The Assistant Commercial Manager has clearly said that only TTE and TC have the right to check tickets in trains and stations. The Commerce Department of Railways has given authority to TTE and TC only. RPF can only help TTE and TC in ticket checking. RPF itself can neither check tickets nor impose fines. RPF has the authority to keep the law and order situation under control in the railway premises. These include action against illegal entry, illegal selling of goods, littering, smoking etc. Only in such cases can RPF officers charge fine. The main job of RPF is to protect the railway property and follow the rules. At the same time, the responsibility of GRP is to investigate any crime committed in the train and station and arrest the accused and present them in the court.
