Japan Open: Lakshya Sen out in first round, Ayush and Unnati struggle defeat

tokyo15 july. Wednesday was a disappointing day for young Indian shuttlers in the Japan Open Super 750 badminton tournament. In this sequence, while Lakshya Sen lost in straight games, Ayush Shetty and Unnati Hooda had to face defeat in tough matches.

Ayush gave tough competition to Vitidasaran

All England Championship runner-up Lakshya, ranked 14th in the world, was defeated by local competitor Koki Watanabe 21-16, 21-14 in 38 minutes on court number one. On the other hand, Asia Championship runner-up Ayush gave a tough fight to second seeded former world champion Kunlavut Vitidsarn of Thailand on court number two and lost 19-21, 25-23, 15-21 after losing a game in a struggle that lasted for one hour and 22 minutes.

Unnati could not maintain the rhythm after taking the first game

On the other hand, in the seventh match of the day played on court number three, Unnati, ranked 24th in the world ranking, won the first game against Huang Yu Sun of Chinese Taipei, but then she could not maintain the rhythm and Huang won the match which lasted for 53 minutes by 16-21, 21-16, 21-15.

Well, if seen, all three Indian players could not even cross the first round hurdle, which is not a good sign before the World Championship to be held in Delhi next month. India is hosting it after 17 years.

Apart from Sindhu, Indian hopes rest on the mixed pair of Dhruv-Crasto.

Now India’s hopes rest on two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu and the mixed team of Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Crasto. Sindhu will face fifth seed Han Yui of China while Dhruv and Tanisha will play top seeds Feng Yan Zhi and Huang Dong Ping.
