Toyota has recently launched its new Hilux in India. After that, the company seems to be preparing to launch an updated version of the famous SUV Fortuner with the same changes. But will the new Fortuner have only external changes or will it also get some new features? Let’s understand all these things here today.
What is likely to change ?
The Toyota Fortuner and Hilux share many similarities. Both vehicles are based on the same ladder-on-frame platform, and share similar off-roading features and other equipment. So, the front of the new generation Fortuner is likely to look similar to the new Hilux.
Exterior appearance of the car
The new Fortuner is expected to get a new honeycomb-style grille, new headlights and taillights, revised bumpers and new alloy wheels. While there will be many changes on the outside, there will be no major changes to the basic shape and size of the car.

Interior and new features
The cabin of the Hilux gets a new dashboard and a new steering wheel. However, since the Hilux is not Toyota’s main product in India, Toyota has avoided adding too many features and increasing the price. However, it seems that the company will not follow the same strategy in the case of the Fortuner.
Since the Fortuner is the most popular full-size SUV in India, Toyota will try to offer many new features even in its base and lower variants.
New dashboard and steering
The new model may get a redesigned dashboard and a new electric power steering instead of the current hydraulic unit.
Large display and 360-degree camera
New 12.3-inch units could replace the current 8-inch infotainment screen and TFT instrument cluster. Instead of offering it as an accessory, the company could now offer a factory-fitted 360-degree camera.

Ventilated seats and safety
The ventilated seats feature, which is currently available only in 4×4 variants, could now be made available in the lower variants as well. In terms of safety, the new Fortuner is likely to get ADAS . It is not yet clear whether it will have Level-2 capabilities or not.
Launch and expected price
Toyota has not yet released any official information regarding the launch date of the new generation Fortuner. However, the updated Toyota Fortuner is likely to be launched by mid-2027 to early 2028.
- Current Price: The current on-road price of the Fortuner in Mumbai is around ₹41.63 lakh to ₹62.47 lakh.
- Expected increase: New features and updates are likely to increase the price by ₹80,000 to ₹1.5 lakh depending on the variant.
