West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari stated that no case will be filed against those who migrate from Bangladesh to India for religious reasons. It is noteworthy that following Adhikari’s orders, detention centers have been set up in districts across West Bengal for Bangladeshi and Rohingya infiltrators. Since Adhikari assumed power, approximately 5,000 infiltrators have been deported to Bangladesh, while approximately 800 remain in detention centers. Thousands of Bangladeshis have also voluntarily returned to their country since the BJP government came to power in the state. Adhikari has directed the administrations of all districts in West Bengal to hand over infiltrators directly to the Border Security Force (BSF) instead of presenting them in court, so that they can be deported.
