A case was registered against Reddy on July 18
Hyderabad: A trainee IPS officer, accused of sexually harassing a female co-trainee at the Hyderabad Police Training Academy, was arrested on Wednesday. M Uday Krishna Reddy (33), a resident of Prakasam district in Andhra Pradesh, was arrested and produced in court. A case was registered against Reddy on July 18 for “stalking and sexually harassing” a female trainee IPS officer at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA).
The accused has been sent to jail on 14 days of judicial custody. Police questioned him on Tuesday in connection with the case. Reddy previously worked as a police constable and later became an IPS officer in 2025 after passing the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam. He had been undergoing training at the SPPNPA since December 2025.
The accused met the victim, a female trainee IPS officer, through social media in late 2025. After the case was registered, the accused stated in a social media post that the complaint and rumors were baseless. In the police complaint, the 30-year-old female trainee IPS officer has accused a fellow trainee IPS officer of harassing her by sending her objectionable messages through an instant messaging app since June 23, and also making objectionable comments in front of her friends inside the academy.
The complainant alleged that the accused falsely accused her of having a physical relationship with another trainee and pressured her to confess to the alleged affair, and also used abusive language against her. The victim alleged that on July 9, the accused wrongfully restrained her, forcibly took her to his room, grabbed her hair, tried to strangle her, and kept a knife to her neck, preventing her from leaving his room.
She also accused the accused of recording a private video of her without her knowledge or consent and sending it to her husband with the intention of blackmailing her. Based on the complaint, a case was registered at the Attapur police station on Saturday under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Information Technology (IT) Act, police said.
