Musafir Cafe actress Mahima Makwana is receiving a lot of love from audiences these days. Young people have started following her, and her character Preeti in the series is also receiving a lot of praise.
In a recent interview with PTI, Mahima spoke about how Bollywood changed her fortunes, and how Salman Khan played a crucial role in that. Mahima credits the film “Antim,” in which she co-starred with Salman and Aayush Sharma, for the major change in her career. Directed by Mahesh Manjrekar, the film released in 2021 marked her Hindi film debut.
She said, “I am forever grateful to Salman sir and Mahesh Manjrekar sir for giving me this opportunity, because I always wanted to see myself on the big screen, and that project changed everything for me. It taught me to believe in myself.”
He said, “When people like them see talent in you, you start to believe in yourself. ‘Antim’ opened many doors for me… I got projects like ‘Showtime’ and ‘Tumse Na Ho Payega,’ and every role, every opportunity has given me something, whether it’s the praise or the people I’ve worked with.”
Makwana plays Preeti in the Netflix series “Musafir Cafe,” currently streaming. Her life becomes intertwined with Chander, who is torn between his past and present relationships. Mahima said she was immediately drawn to the project because it featured a love story with multiple layers, and at a time when romantic stories are rare.
He said, “I think there’s a dearth of love stories, both from the perspective of the audience and the actors. There aren’t many love stories being made these days, and perhaps ‘Musafir Cafe’ will give us more romantic and love stories to explore. Love stories are a huge genre in themselves. There’s so much to experience and connect with. Whether it’s sacrifice, acceptance, or having a partner who is like you. You learn so much about yourself. I also learned a lot from this series and its characters.”
Mahima described playing the character of ‘Preeti’ and working on this project as one of the “most relaxing, like looking in the mirror and lightening the burden” experiences of her career.
