News Desk. The Education Department has given instructions to implement a new system regarding leave system for teachers working in government schools of Bihar. The objective of the department is to make the leave process more transparent, systematic and accountable. According to the new instructions, now the leave application of any teacher will be accepted only in the form prescribed by the department. If application is given in any other format, it will not be considered.
These instructions have been issued by the District Program Officer (Establishment) to all the Block Education Officers in Samastipur district. Also, it has been asked to ensure complete adherence to the new Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).
To which teachers will the new rules apply?
The new system will be applicable to head teachers, head teachers, assistant teachers, special teachers and school teachers appointed through BPSC working in primary, middle, secondary and higher secondary schools. However, teachers appointed under the local body have been kept out of this system.
Rights prescribed for grant of leave
The Education Department has also made it clear that different officers will be competent to grant different types of leaves. The principal of the school will approve casual (CL) and special casual leave of assistant teachers, special teachers and school teachers. If the headmaster, head teacher or in-charge headmaster himself wants to take leave, he will have to take permission from the concerned Block Education Officer (BEO).
If a teacher requires leave for a longer period than casual leave, his application will be forwarded through the concerned officer as per the prescribed procedure and the decision will be taken on the basis of departmental rules.
Keeping digital records will be mandatory
The Education Department has also emphasized on making the leave process completely record based. Now it will be mandatory to enter information about any sanctioned leave in the teacher’s service book and the department’s e-Shikshakosh portal. With this, digital records of all holidays will be available and there will be no dispute or confusion in future.
