Did Channi increase his own problems by going against Rahul Gandhi’s decision?

The discord that started in Punjab Congress is not stopping. After Rahul Gandhi’s foreign trip, now the Congress party is continuously holding meetings to end the discord in Delhi. In this connection, former Chief Minister and MP Charanjit Singh Channi, MP Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa and MLA Rana Gurjit Singh have reached Delhi today. These leaders will meet the party’s Organization General Secretary KC Venugopal today. Charanjit Singh Channi is angry with the party and Randeep Surjewala has also met him to pacify him. Everyone’s eyes are on Channi to see what his next step will be.

The Congress party had announced the team for the elections after several days of brainstorming. There were speculations that Raja Vading would be removed from the post of president but nothing like this happened. Channi was made the chairman of the campaign committee. After this, Channi adopted a rebellious stance and held a meeting with his supporting leaders at his home in Mohali and talked about challenging the decision of the high command. Channi is insisting on talking to Rahul Gandhi and the party high command but Rahul Gandhi has not given him time to meet.

High command angry with Channi

According to reports, Congress high command is angry with Charanjit Singh Channi. He wanted to meet Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge but the party has sent him a message that the meeting is not possible at the moment. Yesterday Pratap Singh Bajwa had a meeting in Delhi and KC Venugopal sent him to meet Channi. After this there was a meeting between Channi and him in Chandigarh. After this meeting, today Channi and other MPs and leaders will have a meeting with KC Venugopal in Delhi.

Difficult to remove wadding

After submitting his report to the Congress high command, in-charge Bhupesh Baghel has made it clear that change of leadership is not a game. That means the party still wants to enter the electoral fray with Raja Vading. The Congress Party believes that making changes in the organization just before the elections will weaken the organization. Therefore, it is considered difficult to remove the wadding. The Congress high command is also not giving much importance to Channi’s rebellious stance.

Did Channi make a mistake?

Charanjit Singh Channi is a big leader of Congress Party. Rahul Gandhi had chosen him as the CM by removing Amarinder Singh. After this, he was made the CM face to contest the 2022 elections and was given tickets from two seats. However, the Congress party lost badly in these elections and Channi himself lost from both the seats. After this, Channi reached Delhi after winning the Lok Sabha and now he wants to become the President. Channi has emerged as the most famous face in the party’s survey.

However, after this rebellious stance of Channi, his image in the party has been damaged. Along with this, Rahul Gandhi is also angry with him and did not even give him time to meet. A message has been given to Channi that the decision of the party high command will have to be accepted. Bhupesh Baghel has made it clear that there will be no change. Now Channi is meeting in Delhi and it is believed that the party will convince him.

Will Channi form a separate party?

Many Congress leaders had attended Charanjit Singh Channi’s Morinda meeting, including former ministers, MLAs, candidates and sitting MLAs, along with many local leaders. After this, Sukhjinder Randhawa also supported him and both were seen together. In the Morinda meeting, the leaders had said that whatever decision Channi takes, they are with them. However, the story behind the scenes is different. Most of the leaders seen with Channi are not with Channi but against Raja Vading. This type of factionalism has been seen before in the Congress Party, where all other factions have come together to remove one faction. Many other leaders like Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa are with Channi only because they want to change the chief. Even after the meeting, many leaders had said that the Congress is with the high command but the decision should be considered.

Political experts say that if Channi decides to form a separate party or join any other party, then many leaders seen with him will express their loyalty to the Congress party and will remain in the Congress. In such a situation Channi will be left alone. Channi also knows that not many leaders will support him in rebelling against the party.
