Described it as coordinated and intense. He said the armed group attacked personnel of the occupying Pakistani army, their security personnel and a convoy of buses carrying military reinforcements that later arrived at the scene. ‘According to reports received so far, more than 45 soldiers of the occupying army have been killed and dozens of others injured in this operation,’ the statement said. Several major attacks on Pakistani security forces in Balochistan

Mastung in Balochistan province has been a stronghold of rebels for a long time. Several major attacks have been carried out on Pakistani security forces in this district in the last few years. Balochistan is the largest but least populous province of Pakistan. There are only a few main roads for the movement of troops between the desert and the mountains. In such a situation, troop convoys have to pass through the same routes again and again. Taking advantage of this, the militants keep an eye on their activities in advance and choose such places where ambush attacks are easy and it is difficult for the army to retaliate.

What is the reason for Baloch rebellion?

Balochistan is 44% of Pakistan’s land area. The share in the country’s population is 6%. There are large reserves of copper, gold, coal, natural gas and resources here. Despite this, it is alleged that the Centre, Army and Chinese companies get a major share of the income from this. Baloch nationalist organizations allege that the local people are not getting the benefits of these resources. He says that the central government exploits the resources of the region, while the local population is still struggling with basic facilities like drinking water, electricity, health services and employment. This dissatisfaction is considered a major reason for the Baloch insurgency.
