Arshad Madani’s big statement on the establishment of Congress, said – initially the aim was to reduce the Hindu-Muslim distance.
Knews Desk- Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind President Arshad Madani has made a big claim regarding the formation of the Indian National Congress and the freedom movement. He said that the initial objective of establishing the Congress was not to directly achieve independence from the British, but to reduce the growing Hindu-Muslim differences in the country and pave the way for dialogue between the two communities.
In a program organized in Deoband, Madani said that at that time there was no such big political platform in the country where different sections of the society could come together and express their views. He claimed that later, due to the growing influence of the independence movement and the struggle against British rule, Congress made independence its main political goal.
Mentioned the role of Ulemas of Deoband
Referring to several movements against the British including the Revolt of 1857, Arshad Madani said that the Ulemas of Deoband had also made an important contribution in the freedom struggle. He claimed that many religious scholars opposed British rule and even went to jail for it.
Recalling the contribution of many Ulemas including Maulana Mahmudul Hasan, he said that their struggle in the freedom struggle should get its rightful place in history.
‘All communities have to move forward together’
In his address, Madani expressed concern over the increasing communal politics in the country. He said that all communities, Hindu, Muslim, Sikh and Christian, should contribute to the progress of the country with mutual cooperation and brotherhood.
He said that development of any country is not possible with the feeling of hatred and division in the society. Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind stays away from electoral politics and aims to maintain social unity and harmony.
Said- Country cannot run on the basis of hatred
Madani said that the strength of any nation comes from love, justice and mutual respect. He said that governments keep coming and going, but the spirit of justice and humanity should remain intact in the society.
He said that the tension arising in the present times can also be ended through dialogue and mutual understanding. All citizens of the country should work together towards peace and development.
