On which issue TVK and DMK became friends? CM Vijay will support Stalin
Tamil Nadu’s ruling parties Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) have united on the issue of delimitation. Both the parties together are preparing to corner the central government. Both the parties are saying that if any bill in this regard is brought in the Parliament again, they will strongly oppose it. MK Stalin and Chief Minister Joseph Vijay are also together on this issue.
DMK president and former chief minister MK Stalin told his MPs’ meeting on July 16 that they would counter any plan that harms the interests of the state. DMK spokesperson Saravanan Annadurai said that this bill is against the interests of the states, especially Tamil Nadu. Even before this, such a bill was brought, which caused loss to the state.

How did Vijay-Stalin come together?
In April, MK Stalin had strongly protested against the proposed bill by burning a copy of it. He called it a black law. He had said that this would harm the Tamil people. C. Joseph Vijay has also opposed delimitation. Before the elections, he had called it a biased plan of the Central Government. Even after coming to power, he had said in Karur on July 10 that he would not allow the representation of Tamil Nadu to weaken.
What is the compulsion to cooperate?
Vijay and MK Stalin are seen on the issue of delimitation. Both do Tamil politics, both the parties fear that if the delimitation bill comes, it will cause loss to the state and the representation will be weakened. He has repeatedly expressed his fear that the seats in Tamil Nadu will be deliberately reduced.
Both argue that population-based delimitation could reduce the representation of southern states in Parliament and would be a political loss for them. For this reason, both of them adopt a common stand against the Centre’s proposal.

Will the bill be presented again in Parliament?
Monsoon session is starting from 20th July. There is no delimitation bill in the government’s agenda. DMK says that they are keeping an eye on all the developments and will make their stand clear if any meeting or bill comes.
What does Bharatiya Janata Party think?
BJP has said on this issue that delimitation should happen and it should have been done in 2000 itself. At the same time, AIADMK has still maintained silence on this issue. Both the parties are now giving the message of protecting the interests of Tamil Nadu by uniting on this issue before the assembly elections.
