Argentina-Spain World Cup final tickets become most expensive in US sporting history
According to ticket marketplace TickPick, the average ticket price surpassed previous U.S. sporting events, including Super Bowl LVIII in 2024 (about $9,400), Super Bowl LV in 2021 ($7,300) and Super Bowl LIV in 2020 ($6,500), according to American magazine Forbes.
The largest purchase recorded by the platform through July 16 was for two seats in Section 115A at MetLife Stadium, which sold for about $28,500 each, bringing the total transaction to nearly $57,000.
The cheapest ticket available for the final was priced at $6,943, down slightly from around $7,200 before Argentina defeated England on Wednesday for set up the final with Spain at MetLife Stadium on Sunday (local time).
The prices are much higher than those for the previous World Cup final. For the 2022 final in Qatar, official ticket prices for international spectators ranged from $604 to $1,607, meaning this year’s lowest resale price is more than 11 times the cheapest official ticket available four years ago.

International fans traveling to the United States for the World Cup final will also need to budget for expenses beyond match tickets.
Citizens of more than 40 countries covered by the U.S. Visa Waiver Program, including the U.K. and Australia, can enter the country with an Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA), which costs about $40 and is typically approved within 72 hours.
Accommodation prices have climbed sharply ahead of the championship match. Online listings showed two-star hotels near MetLife Stadium charging around $460 per night, while some three-star properties in the Meadowlands area were priced at approximately $1,630.
Travelers willing to stay across the Hudson River near Manhattan could find two-star hotels from about $260 a night, The National reported.
Fans have also been advised not to drive to the stadium, as public parking will not be available on match day. Instead, organizers recommend using NJ Transit, which offers round-trip train tickets for $98, or the official shuttle bus from Manhattan, with return fares starting at $20.
