Movement intensified after Sonam Wangchuk was taken to hospital, Abhijit Dipke started fast
New Delhi, July 18. The ongoing agitation at Jantar Mantar has reached a new phase after social activist Sonam Wangchuk was taken to Safdarjung Hospital for treatment by Delhi Police on Saturday. Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijit Dipke announced that he himself will start an indefinite fast and march to Parliament on July 20.
‘The movement will not end by removing Sonam sir’
Addressing the protesters, Abhijit Dipke said that the movement will not end by removing Sonam Wangchuk from there. He said that he is starting his fast from Saturday and the proposed march from Jantar Mantar to Parliament on July 20 will also be taken out as per the schedule.
Serious allegations made against police
While talking to journalists, Deepke alleged that the police forcibly took away Sonam Wangchuk from there. He also claimed that he was stopped from going to Jantar Mantar, assaulted and dragged on the road. Dipke also alleged that several MLAs and MPs were also not allowed to enter the protest site. He also appealed to people from across the country to reach Delhi to join the movement.
What did Delhi Police say?
New Delhi DCP Sachin Sharma said that this action has been taken on the basis of the instructions of the Delhi High Court, the health condition of Sonam Wangchuk and the advice of doctors. He said that Sonam Wangchuk has been admitted to a government hospital for necessary treatment and is under medical observation.
Police appealed for cooperation
Delhi Police has appealed to the protesters not to obstruct government work and cooperate with the administration. Police say that all steps have been taken in accordance with court orders and medical advice.
