Stock market softened for the second consecutive day, Sensex fell by 238 points, Nifty weakened by 51 points.

Mumbai21 july. Due to the rise in crude oil prices amid the ongoing tension in West Asia, the domestic stock market witnessed a decline for the second consecutive day and both the benchmark indices remained in the red on Tuesday. At the end of trading, BSE Sensex closed with a loss of 238 points while NSE Nifty closed with a loss of 51 points.

According to market experts, selling pressure in HDFC Bank along with continued capital withdrawal by foreign institutional investors also affected investor sentiment.

Sensex 238.41 by falling points 77,470.11 off on

Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE)’s benchmark index Sensex based on 30 shares closed at 77,470.11, falling 238.41 points or 0.31 per cent. During trading, at one time it had fallen by 371.19 points to 77,337.33 points. Among Sensex related companies, 21 stocks remained strong while nine declined.

On the other hand, the National Stock Exchange (NSE) sensitive index Nifty based on 50 shares closed at 24,187.70 points with a loss of 50.80 points or 0.21 percent. Among the companies associated with Nifty, shares of 31 remained in the green while 19 showed weakness.

HDFC Bank shares fell the most by 2.08 percent.

Among the companies included in the Sensex group, shares of HDFC Bank closed with a fall of 2.08 for the second consecutive day. The bank’s shares were in loss due to margins not being as expected in the quarterly financial results. Apart from this, shares of Reliance Industries, State Bank of India, Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys and Power Grid also declined. Bajaj Finserv, InterGlobe Aviation, UltraTech Cement, HCL Tech, Mahindra & Mahindra and Titan were the major gainers.

FII has 1,121.04 Sold shares worth crores of rupees

According to stock market data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) sold shares worth Rs 1,121.04 crore on Monday. Meanwhile, global oil standard Brent crude rose 0.66 percent to $90.03 per barrel.
