Meteorological Department’s Red Alert: Big danger is looming over these three districts, do not leave the house even by mistake

At present, the form of monsoon has become very scary in Himachal Pradesh. Continuous torrential rains have completely derailed life in the hill state. Road connectivity has been completely cut off in many districts of the state, while the electricity and drinking water systems have also broken down badly. In view of the situation, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an extreme warning and declared ‘red alert’ for Kangra, Chamba and Sirmaur districts, where heavy to extremely heavy rainfall is expected in the coming time.

145 roads closed, electricity and water services also stopped

Giving information about the latest situation, State Revenue, Horticulture and Tribal Development Minister Jagat Singh Negi said that due to continuous rain, a total of 145 roads across the state are completely closed for traffic. Apart from this, 508 transformers associated with power distribution have also failed, leaving many areas in darkness. Besides, 43 important drinking water schemes have also been badly affected. The Minister also said that due to flash flood in many other districts including Lahaul-Spiti, small bridges and connectivity roads on drains have been completely damaged, due to which many areas have lost contact with the outside world.

Monsoon disaster turns deadly, 66 people dead so far

Various rain-related tragedies have wreaked havoc in the state. Sharing the sad figures, the Minister said that during the month of July alone, a total of 66 people have lost their lives in rain-related accidents, tragic road accidents, landslides and falling of rocks from the mountains.

The state government is keeping a close watch on the entire incident and situation. All relief and restoration work is going on war footing. The government has given strict instructions to all the district administrations and District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) of the state to remain on complete high alert. The administration has appealed to the general public that people living in the districts where red alert has been issued, should not undertake unnecessary travel at all and should completely follow the advisories issued from time to time by the Meteorological Department and the administration.
