President Murmu addressed the India-North Macedonia Business Forum, emphasized on increasing investment and technology partnership.

Skopje, July 21. Indian President Draupadi Murmu, while addressing the India-North Macedonia Business Forum organized in Skopje on Tuesday, said that there is immense potential in the economic and commercial relations between the two countries. He called upon the industry to identify new opportunities with emphasis on enhancing investment, technology partnership and long-term business cooperation with business.

Mention of the first presidential level bilateral visit

President Murmu said that this is the first bilateral visit by an Indian President to North Macedonia, which reflects India’s commitment to give a new direction to the cooperation between the two countries. He said that trade between India and North Macedonia has been growing steadily, but the current trade level is still far low compared to the available potential.

Emphasis given on increasing investment

The President said that it is necessary to increase investment between the two countries to transform trade relations into a real economic partnership. He cited sectors like digital innovation, Artificial Intelligence (AI), pharmaceuticals, healthcare, agro-processing and green energy transition as key areas for investment and cooperation. He also invited North Macedonia to participate in the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit (WAVES) to be held in India next year.

Emphasis on start-up and technology cooperation

President Murmu said that start-ups, universities, research institutes and technology companies of both the countries can promote innovation through partnership. He also mentioned the vast potential for cooperation in areas such as artificial intelligence, cyber security and digital innovation.

Call for long term partnership with industry

The President said that industry organizations of both the countries should develop long-term business relations by identifying profitable projects. He urged to increase contacts with chambers of commerce and industry, investment agencies and business organizations and encourage regular exchange of business delegations.

Addressing the Assembly Emphasis laid on strengthening parliamentary cooperation and bilateral relations

Earlier, while addressing the Assembly of North Macedonia, President Murmu emphasized on parliamentary cooperation, democratic values ​​and further strengthening of bilateral relations between the two countries. He said that India considers North Macedonia not as a remote country, but as an important partner in building a stable, multipolar and prosperous global future.

Democracy is the common faith that binds the two countries.

President Murmu said that democracy is not just a system of governance, but a shared belief connecting India and North Macedonia. He said that the parliaments of both the countries are protectors of people’s freedom, law making institutions and reflection of national consciousness. Emphasizing the importance of parliamentary diplomacy, he said that regular communication between MPs develops institutional trust which persists even after political changes.

Appeal to increase communication with young MPs

The President called upon the young parliamentarians to increase regular exchanges between New Delhi and Skopje. He said this will provide an opportunity to share best practices in parliamentary functioning and public policy making and will further strengthen cooperation between the two democracies.

India described South-Eastern Europe as an emerging region

President Murmu said that the world’s center of political and economic power is changing and India sees South-Eastern Europe as an emerging region of development and innovation. He said that North Macedonia is an important gateway connecting the Mediterranean, Central Europe and East-West. India is committed to enhancing its cooperation not only with North Macedonia but with the entire region through new trade and investment opportunities.

‘Underlined the message of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’

The President said that no country can progress alone. Referring to India’s ancient philosophy of life ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’, he said that today when the world is facing challenges like conflict and economic division, this principle inspires to build bridges of cooperation and trust instead of building walls. He said that both the democratic countries, having a shared history and vision of a bright future, should work together to pave the way for peace and prosperity.

Many Indian representatives were also present

President of North Macedonia Dr. Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova was also present during the President’s address. On this occasion, Minister of State for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Nimuben Jayantibhai Bambhaniya, Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Dinesh Sharma and Lok Sabha MP Vijay Baghel were also present.

Focus on technology transfer and employment creation

President Murmu urged companies not to be limited to just short-term business deals, but to invest in long-term partnerships based on technology transfer, joint ventures, local value addition and employment generation. He expressed confidence that this business forum will pave the way for new opportunities for economic cooperation between India and North Macedonia.
