A very important and historical update has come out regarding India’s first Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail (Bullet Train Project). The Government of India and the National High-Speed ​​Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) have made a major change in the project and have decided to run the indigenously built ‘B-28’ train set in place of Japan’s famous ‘E10 Shinkansen’ train set. This decision taken under the ‘Make in India’ initiative is being considered a major milestone in taking India’s manufacturing capacity to new heights and reducing foreign dependence. There was a problem regarding the price and conditions, now India will make its own high-speed train. Actually, under the initial plan, E10 series Shinkansen bullet train was to be imported from Japan. However, the talks were stuck for a long time due to high prices offered by Japanese companies, delay in delivery timelines and maintenance conditions. After this, the Railway Ministry and Indian engineers decided that on the lines of the success of the country’s own Vande Bharat Express, a bullet train capable of running at a speed of 250 to 320 kilometers per hour would be manufactured in India itself. Features of B-28 Train Set and huge savings to Railways ‘B-28’ Bullet Train Set will be manufactured at Integral Coach Factory (ICF) Chennai and other major railway factories in the country. Speed ​​of 320 km/hr: This train will be able to cover the distance of 508 km between Mumbai and Ahmedabad in just around 2 hours. Savings of billions of rupees: There will be direct savings of thousands of crores of rupees in the cost of the project by manufacturing them in the country as compared to importing ready trains from abroad. Indian Climate Friendly: The B-28 train set is being specially designed keeping in mind the rising temperatures, dust and monsoon conditions of India. World Class Features: It will have aerodynamic design, rotating seats, modern security technology (high-speed variant of Kavach system) and Wi-Fi/infotainment facilities. When will the country’s first bullet train start? The first section between Surat to Bilimora in Gujarat is being rapidly prepared for trial. The project is expected to gain momentum with the arrival of indigenous B-28 train sets. This move will not only include India in the club of select countries that have the capability to build their own high-speed bullet trains, but in future India will also be able to export its bullet trains to other developing countries.
