Milan and Galatasaray have reportedly opened negotiations over the price of Rafael Leão, in the latest twist to the Portuguese forward’s uncertain future.

According to Milannews.it, relaying Turkish journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu, the two clubs have begun talks on a transfer fee for the forward, with Galatasaray having stepped up their long-running pursuit of the winger.

The Istanbul side have made no secret of their desire to take the winger to Turkey.

Galatasaray push for Leão despite Milan relaunch

The report, though, sits awkwardly alongside recent signals from within Milan. Leão returned to action in Wednesday’s pre-season derby against Inter in Perth, and coach Rúben Amorim has spent the past week publicly reintegrating him, insisting the forward is “happy and motivated” and showing no sign of agitating for a move.

Milan, who value Leão at around €50-60m, have also indicated they will only sanction a permanent sale rather than the loan Galatasaray initially proposed.

Whether these fresh talks signal genuine momentum or merely another chapter in a saga that has swung repeatedly this summer remains to be seen, but with weeks of the window left, Leão’s future is far from settled.
