Sonam Wangchuk is ready to end her fast, but the government will have to fulfill these conditions

New Delhi: Recently a big news has come out related to social activist Sonam Wangchuk, in which she has talked about ending her fast. However, for this he has put some conditions before the Central Government. Let us tell you, Sonam Wangchuk wrote a letter to Union Ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh thanking them for coming to the hospital to meet them and appealing to end the fast. Along with this, the government has also given assurance of adopting a positive attitude on some of their demands. Compensation should be given to the families of the students

In his letter, Wangchuk demanded that appropriate compensation be given to the families of students who committed suicide following the paper leak incidents. Along with this, he said that this entire matter should be seriously discussed in the Parliament and necessary steps should be taken to fix accountability. He also said that the demand for resignation of the Union Education Minister should also be considered during the discussion.

‘Chalo Sansad’ movement also mentioned

Referring to the ‘Chalo Sansad’ march organized on July 20, Wangchuk said that the demonstration was completely peaceful, while excessive police force was used against the protesters. He expressed hope that no legal action or harassment would be taken against the students and youth involved in the movement, because this would weaken their faith in the democratic system.

Letter received from 65 MPs

He told that after meeting the Union Ministers, about 65 MPs from different political parties have also written letters to them appealing to end the fast. Some MPs have met him personally, while others are likely to meet him. The MPs told him that his contribution to the country and society is important in future also.

Punitive action should not be taken against students

Wangchuk said that he wants to be active again in the field of education and his students, but cannot compromise with the interests of the youth with whose support this movement was started. He demanded a clear and unconditional assurance from the government that no punitive action would be taken against any student or youth protestor involved in the movement.

He clearly said that if the government gives this assurance, he will end his fast. But if such assurance is not received, he will continue his fast. Along with this, Sonam Wangchuk said that the real strength of any democracy is determined by how it treats the youth who express their views and the citizens who disagree.
