Cuttack: Father, sons arrested for deadly attack during marriage

The attack took place on Wednesday during a wedding ceremony in Vidyadharpur village.

Goods: A wedding celebration in Cuttack turned violent after a deadly attack on a young man. The incident took place in Vidyadharpur village in Cuttack.

Acting on a complaint by the victim’s mother, police immediately arrested three accused, a father and his two sons, and later produced them in court.

According to police, the incident took place on Wednesday during a wedding ceremony in Vidyadharpur village. An altercation broke out for some reason.

Mahima Rout alias Jaya of the same village had intervened to stop the fight.

Later, while Jaya was returning from the wedding, he was stopped on the road by three people from the village — Bijay Behera, Jagu alias Jagana Behera, and Biswajit Behera alias Bunty.

The three, who are father and sons, allegedly attacked him with a bamboo stick.

Jaya sustained serious head injuries in the assault. He is currently undergoing treatment in hospital in critical condition.

Following the attack, Jaya’s mother Jita Rout lodged a complaint at Godisahi outpost.

On that basis Police launched an investigation and arrested the three accused. The bamboo stick used in the attack was also seized from them. All three were later forwarded to court.

Police said raids are being carried out at different places to nab other absconding accused in connection with the case.
