Over 19 Million Eggs Recalled Due to Potential Salmonella Contamination

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) just announced a recall on 1,589,577 dozen white shell eggs and brown cage-free shell eggs spanning across multiple brands and products. This is due to a potential Salmonella Enteritidis contamination.

According to the FDA notice, the affected eggs were produced and distributed from farms in Texas from June 6 through July 3, 2026, with sell-by or best-by dates ranging from July 20 through August 17, 2026. The eggs were shipped to both foodservice and retail, including grocery chains like Kroger and Brookshire Grocery. The following states are impacted by this recall: Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas.

The recalled cartons have a printed julian date ranging from 157 to 184. The following products are affected, including impacted UPC and identifying codes printed on the packaging:

Check your refrigerator, and if you have any of the above recalled products on hand, dispose of them and contact your place of purchase for a possible refund. These eggs are being recalled due to potential contamination after “Midwest Poultry Services identified the issue on its two Texas farms through proactive environmental monitoring practices and root cause analysis,” per the FDA notice.

While there are no illnesses currently connected to this recall, Salmonella infection (salmonellosis) can be extremely dangerous for immunocompromised individuals, young children and for those age 65 or older. If you are experiencing symptoms like fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and/or abdominal pain after consuming the recalled eggs, seek immediate medical attention from a healthcare professional.
