Shreyas Iyer got his first win as captain against Zimbabwe. Iyer looked very happy after this. After the resounding defeat of hosts Zimbabwe in Harare, Iyer heaped praise on the team. He also praised young batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi who scored his maiden fifty against Zimbabwe.
Completed his half century in 18 balls
Suryavanshi completed his half-century in just 18 balls, playing a vital role in Team India’s victory. Earlier, the Indian bowlers performed exceptionally well, especially Mayank Yadav, who took a wicket with the very first ball of the match. His tight bowling prevented Zimbabwe from scoring big, and India easily chased down the target. After that Iyer became very happy.

Speaking at the post-match presentation, Iyer said, “The team put up a great performance and I got my first win. I couldn’t be happier. I was anticipating the bounce and the wicket had good bounce, especially from a hard length. It was changing at the start but the bounce was the same in both the innings. Mayank Yadav bowled brilliantly. He bowled the right line and length which gave him no chance to score runs.”
Talked about Zimbabwe’s 125 all out
The Indian captain also spoke about Zimbabwe’s 125 all out. He said, “Every team has a batsman who can take the team forward at full strength and score well. They read the wicket well and then start building partnerships. I wanted to rotate my bowlers and get them in a good rhythm as there are still two matches to play.”

Hence, he has a lot of confidence when he steps on this ground.”
