Strict action will be taken on visiting Jantar-Mantar, Delhi University issued advisory for students and teachers

Following the protests and violent incidents at Jantar Mantar in capital Delhi on July 20, tensions remain high. Student protests are turning increasingly violent, demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and the NEET controversy. In view of this situation, the Delhi University (DU) administration has taken a strict administrative step. The university has issued an official advisory to all its students and teaching staff, strictly prohibiting them from participating in any dharna or protest at Jantar-Mantar.
Permission to abstain from Jantar-Mantar protests

The Delhi University administration has issued a notice on Twitter (earlier Twitter) requesting all its students and faculties to refrain from participating in any ongoing protests at Jantar-Mantar. The university has clarified that personal safety is the highest priority in the current situation. In view of the recent police encounter and tense situation at Jantar-Mantar, the administration does not want the students of the campus to be exposed to any danger or physical injury. Hence, students are advised to keep distance from controversial places.
Studies and career may be negatively affected

The university has stated that participating in any kind of violent or illegal protests disrupts the academic activities of the students. Continued participation in such protests not only harms their studies but can also have a profound negative impact on students’ future and professional opportunities. The university notes that involvement in disciplinary or legal matters can tarnish students’ career records, potentially permanently affecting their chances of finding employment or pursuing higher education, both locally and abroad.
Strict action will be taken against those involved in illegal demonstrations.

The university administration has issued a warning making it clear that anyone violating the rules will not be spared. If any student or faculty member of Delhi University is found participating in any illegal demonstration or unauthorized gathering at Jantar-Mantar, strict legal and disciplinary action will be taken against them as per rules. An FIR can be lodged against a person who violates university rules and national laws, as well as strict punitive measures such as expulsion from the institution.
