No more paper leakers! Fast-track courts will be set up in 4 states, hearings will be held daily and strict punishment will be given
Amid rising cases of paper leaks, the central government has now started preparing to take strict action. After Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement, a proposal has been prepared to set up a fast-track court for speedy trial of paper leak cases. Efforts will be made to hear cases on a daily basis in this court, so that protracted legal disputes end quickly and convicts receive strict punishment at the earliest. The government’s move is being considered important amid student protests and questions raised about transparency in the examination system.
Preparing to set up fast-track courts in four states
According to the details, the proposal to set up fast-track courts has been placed under the jurisdiction of four states. It includes the jurisdiction of the Madhya Pradesh, Calcutta and Delhi High Courts in addition to the Aurangabad and Nagpur Benches of the Bombay High Court. Cases related to paper leak and exam malpractice will be taken up for speedy hearing on priority basis. Discussions have also been held by the Government with the concerned State Governments and the High Court.
Many exam cases including NEET fall under the law
The Central Government had implemented ‘The Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024’ to prevent paper leaks and examination malpractices. The Act came into effect from June 21, 2024 and covers examinations conducted by organizations such as UPSC, SSC, RRB, IBPS, Central Government Ministries and NTA. Cases related to the use of unfair means in the examination, including the recent NEET paper leak cases, may also come under this Act. It has come to light that many such cases have been registered in the jurisdiction of Nagpur and Aurangabad benches.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on social media platform X that a fast-track court would be set up to give quick and strict punishment to those involved in the paper leak. Daily hearings will pave the way for speedy disposal of cases and convicts will not have an opportunity to take advantage of the legal process for a long time. The government believes that this move will create fear among paper leakers and restore students’ confidence in the country’s examination system.
